The battery charger allows a battery park to be recharged much more quickly and completely from the alternator. Its assembly is simple and some models provide voltage conversions.
Desired effect | Fast charging (2 to 5 times faster) and complete battery charging from the alternator |
---|---|
Charging cycle applied | Three-phase charging cycle (IUoU) with temperature compensation (temperature probe provided) |
Connection | Without alternator disassembly (connection similar to that of a relay) |
Compatibility | Compatible with all types of batteries including lithium (9 cycles available) and alternators |
System voltage Input / Output | 24 Volts / 12 Volts (ensures voltage conversion) |
Dimensions / Weight | 190 x 160 x 70 x 70 / 1.4 kg |
Input current | 24V / 35A Maximum regardless of alternator power |
Charging current | 12V / 60A Maximum regardless of the alternator power (limits the current which is useful for some batteries in particular lithium batteries) |
Regenerative brakes | Compatible with regenerative brakes |
Other features include | Allows to reduce the charging voltage of some alternators with too high a charging voltage, especially during the floating phase |
Option | Control Panel |
The battery charger connects in the same way as a relay. It allows the efficient recharging of the connected fleet from the alternator. The current entering the battery park is limited by the nominal value of the device. This new model incorporates the features of the previous range in a more compact housing. Compared to the previous generation, it incorporates the possibility of reducing the charging voltage independently of that of the alternator (some current alternators have a charging voltage too high to ensure the recharging (especially during maintenance) of the service batteries. It is compatible with the Euro 6 standard (regenerative brakes) and can be easily installed, even in this case. |

The battery charger allows a service fleet to be quickly and completely recharged from the alternator. Its assembly is simple and some models provide voltage conversions. The battery charger is a product that has become increasingly popular in recent years, the Sterling range which is by far the most complete on the market has expanded considerably to meet this growing demand. Like the alternator charger, it guarantees optimal charging of the service batteries from the alternator and is very easy to install.
Some models provide voltage conversion, so it will be possible to recharge a 24 V fleet such as the bow thruster from a 12 volt alternator or to recharge a 12 V service fleet directly from a 24 V alternator.
It should also be noted that battery chargers limit the current, this feature is useful to respect the charging constraints of lithium batteries or to limit the alternator output power and protect it from premature wear.
