Battery recharging solutions from the alternator

Alternators can represent a significant source of on-board power. The problem, however, is that alternator output diminishes rapidly even when batteries are still discharged.

This is due to the fact that alternators are initially designed to maintain starter batteries that do not undergo deep discharge.

The purpose of amplified systems is touse all the power available from the alternator to recharge the service fleet by applying an adapted charging cycle.

  • The alternator charger optimizes charging of the service battery bank and also acts as a distributor (it has two outputs). It connects like a distributor (it has two outputs). The alternator charger is compatible with all alternators on the market (except vehicles fitted with regenerative brakes). The alternator charger is easy to fit, and comes at a better price than the battery-to-battery charger for equivalent power.

  • The battery charger is connected in parallel with the engine battery (like a relay) and therefore requires no modification of the charging circuit (the alternator is connected directly to the engine battery).

  • Alternator regulators operate on the same principle as the original regulator, but in a more intelligent way: they apply a charging cycle adapted to the service batteries. The external regulator takes into account the voltage of the service battery and controls the alternator's electro-magnet (rotor) to reduce or increase the alternator's output power, in order to obtain the right charge for the service battery.
